Congratulations to Jeff Tomlinson, Jr. of Coralville, the winner of $1 million thanks to a winning ticket in Wednesday night's Powerball drawing.

Jeff told the Iowa Lottery that the people at the Kum & Go store at 610 N. Kansas Avenue in North Liberty, where he bought the ticket, were pretty sure he was the winner. Jeff visits the store most every day and Friday morning when he walked in, Kum & Go staff told him to check his numbers. They knew when the ticket was purchased and were almost positive Jeff was holding the ticket of a new millionaire. Jeff went to his car, grabbed the ticket and checked the numbers, and then went back inside and "started tearing up and shaking in the middle of the store. I just could not believe it." He works at Rockwell Collins and has no plans to quit.

The winning numbers in Wednesday's $80 million jackpot were 8-18-27-29-60 with a Powerball of 15 and Power Play of 2.

Jeff had the first five numbers correct but missed on the Powerball. His $1 million ticket was the only one sold in the U.S. for Wednesday night's drawing. No one matched all the numbers to claim the $80 million jackpot.

You may recall a $2 million ticket was sold in Cedar Rapids in mid-July. That prize still hasn't been claimed. There have been five tickets sold in Iowa in 2016 with a prize of $1 million or more.
