The flood waters are rising once again. And just like 2008, communities are stepping up and helping friends and neighbors. One of the most asked questions during a disaster like this is, 'how can I help'?

Step one would be to check with The United Way. They have a website set up for people who want to sign up to volunteer. If you NEED help you can always call 2-1-1.

There are also several Facebook groups that are being set up for support. You can find one HERE and also HERE. Hilltop Kennels will also be providing FREE boarding for animals in flood zones. You can call 319-415-1852 for details on getting your pets boarded.

Also, the Newbo District is looking for help in getting businesses evacuated. The goal is to have all basements and 1st floors of Newbo businesses clear by Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. Those efforts beginning this morning at 9 a.m. at Newbo.

Those are just a few places to check out if you want to help those affected by the rising waters. The city of Cedar Rapids will hold another press conference this morning at 10 a.m. You can see it live on the KHAK facebook page.
