After getting pretty good at polar vortex hibernation mode, the Winter Olympics on TV will be even more of a thrill. I'll be hunkered down next Friday for the opening ceremonies from Sochi, Russia.

4 years ago, Vancouver showcased some amazing, record-setting feats. Who could forget the Flying Tomato, Shaun White on the half-pipe gold medal performance? Here's a recap of 2010 as we look forward to next week:

The "OlyOmnipresent" Bob Costas and Mary Carillo will once again provide the wall-to-wall coverage for NBC. As we get deeper into the digital age, it's always cool to see how people consume the games. I like to time shift on my tablet and phone. Summer Games, my favorite is Ping Pong and for the Winter Olympics it's Luge. Not your standard "big hitters" when it comes to ratings, but that's the advantage one has in streaming.

Here's to a great couple of weeks of intense competition and international camaraderie. GO USA!!
