Unlike so many others in this industry, I never grew up knowing I wanted to work in radio.  Thankfully in college I kinda stumbled upon it.  But before I got into the biz, I had to make a living doing something else.  Sure it was still in the entertainment industry, kind-of, but it;'s a job that no longer exists.

Right out of college, I got a full time job as an entry level manager with Blockbuster.  I apparently was pretty good at it, as withing a short time, they put me in charge of my own store, which I ran very successfully for quite a few years.  For much of that time, I was looking for my start into radio, but Blockbuster liked me and wanted me to stay, and move up the chain.  Good thing radio came calling, as the Blockbuster thing wouldn't have really worked out.

How the times have changed.  Blockbuster is gone, and so are some of these jobs, which used to be great careers.  Kinda makes you think... will your current line of work still be around in 10, 20, 30 yrs, if not less?
