We took the kids to Mall Of America last weekend. It's always cool to see the 2nd largest shopping complex in North America. (Edmonton is #1). From bar hopping in the upper level, to the Nickelodeon amusement park/Lego Land to specialty shops, it's utopia at 70 degrees. Oh, and there's Ikea next door. Bonus!

One of the things I've noticed the last couple of years is the sheer size of today's video screens. This one jumps out at you when strolling the mall.

Now that is a TALL Wall of Fame. Before long, they won't "jump out" at us. They'll be commonplace and the newness will have run it's course. Kind of like the dancing air figures like the one they still fly at Sprint on Blairs Ferry. It blends in after awhile.

When the U.S. Cellular Center re-opened a couple of years ago, that video screen in the lobby was an attention-grabber. Just as with our home video screens, the public displays just keep getting bigger.

When it comes to malls, maybe these screens have replaced the subliminal "shop more" signals being fed over the years via sound systems. I know we spent some "Money in Minnie." Those darn video screens were talking to us.

Clark Shoe Store is always a good place for me to put down some cash. Sure, there are outlets in Eastern Iowa that sell them, but the closest brick and mortar Clark store is in Peoria. I'll take the Twin Cities any day.
