A Whole New Way To Experience The Circus

What happens when the circus meets the symphony?  "Pure Magic!" That's the claim of Cirque Musica, coming to the Paramount Theatre for 2 shows with Orchestra Iowa next weekend, May 16th and 17th.  I gotta tell you, I've been counting down to this one for weeks.In fact, if you're looking for a Mother's Day gift this might be a cool idea, as it's just something so unique.  I mean sure, everyone has seen circus acts.  But have you ever seen them performed to orchestral music, with a live orchestra performing alongside the circus acts?

There's just something about symphonic music too.  There's so much drama in the sound, and so many colors when you go from brassy horns, to delicate or agressive strings, to tender woodwinds.  What a perfect combination to combine that with drama of circus acts, including some traditional "death defying" stunts.  My only problem is that I like to close my eyes during Orchestra concerts.  No, not to catch some sleep.  But instead to focus on the sounds, and the "colors" dancing in my head. I guarantee I won't be doing that during this performance. I can't wait to see what's in store.
