I am sometimes easily impressed. For instance, I love the fact that the Paramount Theatre-Cedar Rapids not only displays the beautiful marquee sign out front but also one behind the building. This electronic billboard is also part of the spectacular view of downtown we are lucky to have from the KDAT studio. If you can excuse my rather poor photography work, I've snapped a few pictures for you.

You might have missed the above sign because it's seemingly not always operational. I assume that's a cost/energy-saving measure but with the theatre's schedule filling up fast this winter and spring, it seems it never hurts to use as many resources as possible to get the word out!

Several great shows are coming up including a couple of Orchestra Iowa events. Join them on Saturday, January 28 for "American Mystics", which according to their website

blends the evocative sounds of Alan Hovhaness’ Second Symphony, better known as Mysterious Mountain, with the haunting and distinct music of Charles Ives’ The Unanswered Question. Howard Hanson’s “Romantic” Symphony No. 2 recalls the beautiful melodies and expansive orchestration of musical expression in the late 19th century.
