The second installment of the American Idol reboot is underway and taking open call auditions to Louisiana in September of 2018.

Superstar judges Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie and Katy Perry are heading to the Bayou State to find a new batch of talent for the upcoming season of the music competition show. Auditions begin at the Shreveport Municipal Auditorium on Sept. 9, according to the Shreveport Times

Tryouts for the singing show began in August of 2018 with the launch of the Idol Bus Tour that's making various stops across the U.S. The tour began on Aug. 25 in Orlando, Fla. and has since traveled to San Diego, Seattle, Albuquerque and more in search of the next star.

In addition to Shreveport, La.; Houston, Philadelphia, Brooklyn, N.Y. and Columbus, Ohio are also on the list of towns the bus will be stopping in. Potential contestants are able to audition in person at the various cross-country locations as well as submit their auditions online.

Bryan made his debut as a reality show judge when the 16th season of Idol aired on its new home on ABC in March of 2018. He announced in May that he'd be returning for the 2018-2019 season.  "It makes me understand it's a big ol' world out there. I think it makes me a better artist, makes me smarter as a person, it makes me understand society better — all walks of life," the country star says, regarding how the experience of being a judge has shaped him.

Maddie Poppe was crowned the Season 16 champion, with boyfriend Caleb Lee Hutchinson taking second place. No air date has been announced yet  for the Season 17 premiere.
