An Emotional Friday for the Marion Police Department

The Marion Police Department made a difficult decision when they laid to rest a long-time K9 Officer.

K9 Rico was laid to rest yesterday due to health issues. The Marion Police Department posting this wonderful tribute in his honor on their Facebook page:

Today we will lay K9 Rico to rest due to health issues. This dedicated K9 was more than an officer, he was a friend to many during his 14+ years. While serving Marion Police Department (Iowa), he worked many hours and several Secret Service details including assignments with President Obama and the Dalai Lama. Rico will be missed by Corporal Hartwig and all the members of the Marion Police Department as well as all the lives he touched. ‪#‎thankyouK9Rico‬

Several area law enforcement agencies joined Marion Police in a procession that started at the Marion Police Department and traveled down Highway 151, 7th Avenue and ended along Marion Boulevard (video below).
