Next month, some of the best young archers in the state will converge on Des Moines for the State Archery in Schools Tournament. This program is coordinated through the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. Nearly 200 schools are participating on March 7.

I was first introduced to the sport as a counselor at Camp Courageous. We taught the kids and young adults the skill, then had our own staff sessions on the weekends. It's a great activity.

To start this program at your school or get more information, hit this website or call 515-205-8709.

Elementary, middle and high school Kids here in the Hawkeye State who rise to the top of this regional competition can then advance to Nationals in Kentucky and on to Worlds. Good luck to all the competitors.
