A Winter Storm Warning goes into effect this evening until tomorrow night. The National Weather Service says 7-11" of snow is expected. Winds will pick up tomorrow and gust to 35mph causing considerable drifting. Visibilities we cut down to 1/2 mile or less at times on Sunday.

Last week, officials at The Iowa Environmental Mesonet inside the Iowa State's Science & Technology department made a prediction: We may not see many more snow events this season, but the ones that do come could be more intense. Looks like one of those big ones should make a substantial impact this weekend.

IEM says we are at the midway point of winter. Late January typically puts us in the middle of the snowfall season for an Iowa winter.

Another part of their report predicts the brunt of the bitter cold is over. We're far less likelyto see the mercury plunge into the deep freeze and stay there for an extended period. After a punishing winter last year, this season's offerings have been wimpy overall. We'll see how February looks. I'm sure the scientists at ISU welcome Bomb Cyclones!

We guarantee the temperature will be a comfortable 70F inside the US Cell Center's Convention Hall. See you at The KRNA/Thomas Dostal Developers Big Boy Toy Show 2015 next Saturday, February 7.
