The results are in! The Harris Poll’s 29th annual EquiTrend Study has officially been released, revealing the strongest restaurant brands across the country. This year, over 100,000 people rated about 4,000 different brands across 450 categories. 90 of those brands fell into eight different restaurant categories.

There are three different factors that brands are judged on in The EquiTrend Brand Equity Index, and those are familiarity, quality, and purchase consideration. The ones that score the highest in their categories are named “Brands of the Year.” I'm happy to report that out of the eight restaurant categories, Cedar Rapids is home to six of the winners! Two of those winners were actually brought the CR in the last year or so, and I STILL somehow haven't been to either of them. I know, I'm surprised too. Check out the list of the winners:

  • Burger Restaurant - Five Guys (2016 winner: In-N-Out Burger)
  • Chicken Restaurant - Chick-fil-A
  • Coffee & Quick Service Restaurant - Starbucks (2016 winner: Dunkin' Donuts)

  • Fast Casual Mexican Restaurant - Moe's Southwest Grill

  • Pizza Chain - Papa John's (2016 winner: Pizza Hut)

  • Sandwich Shop - Subway
