Smile Cedar Rapidians, you've got a lot going for you.

Cedar Rapids has been named the THIRD happiest city in the United States by Zippia. There are seven total pieces of information that brought them to that conclusion:

  1. Unemployment rate
  2. Amount of population with at least a bachelor's degree
  3. Short commute time
  4. Low cost of living
  5. Home ownership
  6. Poverty rate
  7. Families. As Zippia puts it, 'getting, and staying married, has a ton of happiness benefits, on average.'

Data based on the 2010-2014 American Community Survey.

The 200 largest cities were then put to the test and ranked from first to last, one to 200, in each category. Those numbers created the Happiness Index for each city.

Here's what Zippia had to say about Cedar Rapids. 'Imagine a land where nearly everyone has health insurance; where all of your friends and family who want jobs, have them; where getting to said job only takes an average of 18 minutes each day.

The cost of living is pretty low, so of course, you all own your own homes. And poverty, well, that’s nearly non-existent here.

Welcome to Cedar Rapids.'
