Cedar Rapids Office Supply MegaStore Closing
There will soon be one less place to get all those office needs taken care of.
In March of this year, Staples announced they would be closing 50 stores across the country and we now know one of them will be in Cedar Rapids.
An email went out to customers yesterday morning, stating that the northeast side Staples store would be closing. However, the email also makes it clear the location at 2431 Wiley Blvd SW will remain open.
According to Fortune, Staples closed a dozen stores during the fourth quarter of 2015. That was part of 242 stores that were shuttered in the 24 month period covering 2014 and 2015. According to CNN Money, Staples has more than 1,400 stores.
I called the northeast side Staples store this morning seeking comment and a timeline of the closing. I was referred to the Staples Public Relations Department. That call has not been returned thus far.
