Cedar Rapids Park Going To The Dogs Saturday

group of five dogs

Any time that we can socialize our dogs is a good thing and Saturday provides a perfect opportunity! It’s the first Mutt Meetup, sponsored by the Cedar Valley Humane Society.

According to the CVHS Facebook page, it’s a

free, casual event for all dog lovers–and that means your dog is welcome too! Grab your favorite mutt (pure bred dogs can come too) and meet us at the Cherry Hill Pavillion on September 16th from 12 p.m.-3 p.m.”

Collars and collapsible travel dishes will be handed out to attendees (while supplies last) and there’s even live music from “Buster n’ The Chops.” Could there be a more perfect name for the band?! You can bring a picnic lunch if you’d like, or purchase food from food trucks that will be on site.

The Mutt Meetup is free, but donations to the animal care fund of CVHS will be accepted. Those that donate will also have the chance to win door prizes. There are some important rules to note (they’re listed at the bottom of the article).

I’ll see you there on Saturday, which just happens to be Casey’s first birthday. His ears always perk up when he hears the words, “Let’s go see some puppies.” He’ll hear ’em twice on his special day. We’re already planning a trip to the K9 Acres dog park, along with the Mutt Meetup. Somewhere during his day, he’ll also get a little pup-cup of ice cream. Another of his favorites.

If your dog becomes aggressive or if CVHS staff or volunteers determines that your dog is being aggressive, you and your dog may be asked to leave the event. Dogs only — no other animals will be permitted to enter the event. CVHS is not responsible for injuries or illness to dogs, their owners/handlers or others that enter the event. Dog owners/handlers are solely liable for injuries, or damage caused by their dogs. All other county park rules apply.
