Cedar Rapids to Welcome Kart Racing Track
Indoor kart racing is bound for Cedar Rapids... soon.
Speedeezz Indoor Karting is preparing to open their doors in Cedar Rapids at 4750 Tama Street Southeast. The track will be located in the former Hancock Fabrics building. It's just off 1st Avenue/Marion Blvd, just southwest of Carlos O'Kelly's.
According to their Facebook page, they were hoping to open in July, but that has now been backed up due to "a slight delay in producing the karts." They now plan to open in early August.
Speedeezz will use electric karts and riders must be 54 inches to drive a Single Kart. If a child is between 36 and 54-inches, they can ride in a Double Kart, with a licensed driver. All drivers and riders must sign a waiver.
According to their website, a 5-minute ride in a Single Kart is seven dollars. A Double Kart is nine dollars for a 5-minute ride. There are slight discounts for additional races and there are Veterans and Senior (55 and up) discounts, along with happy hour and corporate and party rates.
This will be the second time indoor kart racing has been available in Cedar Rapids. Formula Fun was located just off I-380 and 33rd Avenue but has been closed for a number of years.
People who love competition and/or the need for speed will be thrilled to see the karts return and they won't have to wait long.
