A vehicle-pedestrian accident on I-380 in Buchanan County this morning has claimed the life of a 21-year-old Cedar Rapids woman.

According to a crash report from the Iowa State Patrol, Angelica Soto of Cedar Rapids was walking on southbound 380 at mile-marker 52 at 5 a.m. this morning when she walked into the path of a 2007 Saturn Ion. The vehicle was being driven by 31-year-old Ashley Call of Spencer, Iowa.

According to Iowa Highways, the accident occurred about halfway between the Brandon and Jesup/LaPorte City exits on I-380, in the vicinity of the weigh stations on the interstate. It's not known why Soto was walking along the interstate, and the investigation continues.

Two other people were killed on Iowa roadways over the weekend, both on Sunday.

34-year-old Chad Chelsvig of Iowa Falls was killed when the 1964 Chevy Nova he was driving left the roadway and struck a utility pole at the Story/Hamilton County line Sunday afternoon.

Barry Wilson, 43, of Mt. Pleasant died after failing to negotiate a curve early Sunday morning in Henry County. Neither Chelsvig or Wilson were wearing a seat belt.
