It was Celine Dion's husband, René Angélil, who encouraged the singer to resurrect her Las Vegas concert series last year, but in light of Angélil's death yesterday (January 14), Dion has canceled at least two upcoming dates.

"With heavy hearts, we regret to inform you that Celine performances Saturday, Jan. 16 and Sunday, Jan. 17 at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace have been cancelled," a statement on Dion's website reads. "We are sorry, too, for the fans who have travelled to see Celine perform this weekend."

The site lists February 23 as Dion's potential return date to The Colosseum, and notes automatic refunds will be issued to fans who used credit cards to purchase tickets to either of the canceled shows.

Angélil died after a long battle with cancer that began in 1999 with a throat cancer diagnosis. In August 2014, Dion suspended her Las Vegas concert series to be by his side while he underwent serious treatment, but returned to the stage upon his insistence in 2015.

"He’s working really hard on his health," Dion said at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards. "We know what to do for him. We know what’s going on…but we wanted to come back. This is what we’ve done the best together."

"He wants me back," she added. "He wants me strong. He wants to see me again because I’m his favorite singer."

Here's hoping Dion and her three sons, Nelson, Eddy and René-Charles, are able to find some peace.
