The legend, the queen, the angel of music herself, Celine Dion made a grand return to the Billboard Music Awards stage on Sunday night (May 22) to perform her new single, "The Show Must Go On," a cover of Queen's classic song from 1991.

It was an iconic appearance by the Las Vegas performer and French-Canadian superstar, who also brought out electro-violinist Lindsay Stirling to accompany her on the track. Dion belted through the sweeping rock anthem with powerful vocal aplomb, punctuating each chorus with a series of fierce first bumps into the air above her.

A wholly triumphant moment for the music icon, the performance spoke to the star's relentless personal strength, a testament to the pain she overcame back in January when she lost both her beloved husband, René Angélil, and brother in the span of 48 hours.

After performing, the immaculate diva received Billboard's Icon Award. Presented to her by her son, the pop star was floored by the surprise appearance of René-Charles, crying and needing a moment (or two, or three) before shifting into her emotional thank-you speech.

"I'm so sorry. I'm sorry for crying," the "Power of Love" singer told the crowd, cradling her award in her arm and holding her son by her side. "I want to be so strong for my family and my kids...I want to thank the fans for traveling through music with me in good and bad times...All the people who believed in me...And most importantly, my beloved husband whom I know will continue to watch over me from up above."
