For almost six months of 2017, I kept a huge secret. You may not think that's a big deal, but I am one of the worst secret-keepers of all time, so what happened last week is nothing short of a miracle.

This year for Christmas, I wanted to do something extra special for my mom. She is the greatest human being on this planet and she deserves the world, but the world is pretty expensive. As some of you may know, my new yearly birthday tradition is to take a trip to somewhere I've never been. 2016 was Nashville and 2017 was Chicago. Last summer I was talking to my mom about my trip plans for 2018, and I mentioned that I was considering flying to Orlando to go to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. She loved the idea and expressed how badly she wished she could go with me. That's when I started planning.

After months of saving money and tracking flights and searching for deals on hotels, everything finally came together in the final months of the year. I put together a cute little trip itinerary using some craft supplies and a small photo album, and I wrapped it up and gave it to my mom on Christmas morning.

We will be headed to Orlando May 2nd through 6th of 2018, with our trip to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter happening on my actual birthday, May 3rd. All that's left to do is buy our Universal tickets (which are a LOT pricier that I originally thought) and find someone in Michigan to dog-sit our little monsters! I am so excited to go on a relaxing vacation with my mom for the first time in a very, VERY long time. This is the first time in my life I've been able to do something like this for her, and I certainly hope that it won't be the last!

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and an awesome New Year's Eve like we did back home in Michigan! It's nice to be back in Iowa, but I could really do without the -11 degree weather... :)
