I ate my weight in fries this weekend and I am DEFINITELY not mad about it.

Since I started doing my '2017 Restaurant Bucket List' in January, people have been making some awesome restaurant suggestions for me. One of those suggestions was BeerBurger, a newer place in North Liberty that I had never heard of before. Well, I finally made it to BeerBurger this weekend and IT. WAS. AWESOME.

BeerBurger is a smaller restaurant than I expected, but the set-up was really cool. There was a huge patio with lights and a fountain which opened up to the inside of the restaurant, but unfortunately it was drizzling on and off so we opted to sit inside. It was also kind of tucked away from the main road which I thought added to the vibe.

Let's get to the best part: the FOOD. I will say that the menu was a little pricer than I'm used to, but the food and service was really good so I didn't mind it so much. They had a very large drink menu, so I started with the hard root beer float. You can't go wrong with alcoholic root beer and vanilla ice cream!

I was already feeling a little full after the float, but that didn't stop us from ordering an appetizer. We settled on the poutine fries, minus the pulled pork. Basically, we had fries covered in cheese and gravy. Normally I'm not a big fan of poutine, but these fries were DELICIOUS. It's one of those things I'm going to have to order every time I go.

So by this point, I'm pretty stuffed. But then my main course made its way to the table and I became hungry again. I ordered a #6, which is made up of fried five-cheese mac buns, smoked applewood bacon, and beer cheese. I also opted to pay a little extra for the BeerBurger fries, which come with truffle oil, parmigiano-reggiano, and truffle crème fraiche. The truffle crème fraiche was good, but a little heavy for me, so I switched over to ranch for my fries. Good ranch is a very important quality in a restaurant, and I am pleased to say that theirs passed the test. I didn't even get halfway through my food before I had to ask for a to-go box. Luckily, it still tasted great re-heated in the oven!

My friend ordered just the standard mac n' cheese with fries, and she also really enjoyed it.

Overall, I was really pleased with my BeerBurger experience. I will definitely be back!

Do you have a favorite local restaurant that you think I should visit for October? I'm thinking I'll finally hit up Bluff Lake Catfish Farm in Maquoketa! Leave your suggestions for me in the comments!
