Demi Lovato, who was hospitalized in July after a reported relapse and drug overdose, will finally leave the hospital later this week and seek treatment in rehab. She had been six years sober before returning to drug use.

According to TMZ, Lovato is getting much better, but is facing an ultimatum as she gears up to leave the hospital: seek out treatment in rehab, or lose the people closest to her. Her team will reportedly sever ties if Lovato decides against entering a facility, but the choice is ultimately hers.

A source says Lovato could leave the hospital as early as this week, and should consider herself lucky to be alive. Still, she's not out of the woods.

"She could die if she doesn't [enter rehab], and that's not going to be on my watch that we did nothing," a source told the site.

It was just a week ago that TMZ reported that Lovato's reported overdose — and the relapse that preceded it — were the result of a failed intervention attempt planned by her friends and her team. Lovato reportedly rejected the idea of entering rehab.

"We're told the intervention attempt was not successful — Demi refused and continued to party, instead," TMZ reported. "Other sources tell us she tried to make it seem like everything was okay, but her struggle became obvious shortly before [the] overdose."

Lovato's family released a statement in July that thanked fans for their prayers.

"Demi is awake and with her family who want to express thanks to everyone for the love, prayers and support. Some of the information being reported is incorrect and they respectfully ask for privacy and not speculation as her health and recovery is the most important thing right now," the statement read.
