Okay this is good news, I had been covering this for a few articles when I was over at KRNA, and now we're seeing progress!

Drum Roll Please!

Starting January 1st...Linn County Supervisors voted 4-1 on raising Minimum wage with a resounding...

...

YES!

The state minimum wage of $7.25 per hour will go up one dollar in Linn County. Not only that, but they will continue to go up one dollar per year through 2019 up to $10.25 per hour.

NOW...This may not appease progressives as much as we are hoping to gain on a federal level, which is a hot button issue with the presidential race, but it is certainly a step in the right direction hoping state level will follow.

Following the vote, Supervisor Jim Houser said it's almost certain state lawmakers have taken notice.

"This is actually an encouragement for the state for them to take up the subject next session," Jim Houser.

Central City Mayor Don Gray hasn't noticed much opposition from local businesses

"Business owners think that it's inevitable, that they're stuck with whatever gets decided. But I would like to have their input and it won't be a consensus probably," Don Gray, Central City Mayor.

Minimum wage hasn't gun up in nearly 10 years. That's 2006! Do you know who we didn't know anything about as the american public in 2006? LADY GAGA. Lady Gaga didn't release her first album until 2008. Long overdue, and a great step in the right direction. Thank you Linn County Supervisors!
