When hot air balloons are involved, the weather is everything. Unfortunately, the weather for the original date of Farm Glow in Mount Vernon was not ideal. But luckily for balloon glow fans, the weather for this weekend looks amazing!

Farm Glow at Bass Farms in Mount Vernon was initially held on September 24th. And while many people attended the festivities, the weather that evening did not allow for the hot air balloons to come out. But the event set a rain date for a reason. That date is this Saturday, October 1st from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The Farm Glow Facebook page posted an update yesterday for anyone looking to attend the event this weekend.

The post thanked those who attended and also apologized for the parking situation. Apparently, the turnout was so high back on September 24th that eventually cars had to be turned away. There was simply no more room for people to park. Organizers say that they are working on the parking issue and hope to have room this weekend for everyone who wants to attend.

Organizers also talked about who makes the decision on whether to inflate the hot air balloons. Even though the weather forecast for Saturday looks great, if the winds are too high, the balloons will be unable to glow. Hot air balloons stretch nearly seven stories high, and just because the wind on the ground seems O.K., doesn't mean it is up a bit higher. They went on to state that Bass Farms does not make the decision on whether to inflate the balloons. That decision is 100% the balloon company's call.

If you plan to attend the rain date for Farm Glow, get there early! You can also re-use your original tickets as no more online tickets will be sold. Due to safety issues, hayrides will stop at 5 p.m. Weather permitting the balloons will start glowing between 7 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday night!

The ABCs of Iowa

I know Iowa may not be the most popular state to visit, but we still have plenty to offer! Using countless article, websites, lists, and maps, we put together a list of some of Iowa's best and biggest events, venues, and attractions using every letter of the alphabet (which wasn't easy)! Unfortunately, we couldn't include EVERY awesome place in the state (there aren't enough letters!), but here are our Iowa ABCs:
