It's almost here. Mother's Day is this Sunday, May 13. We all know, music makes the world go around. Is there a special song that reminds you of your Mother-child bond, or just Mother's Day in general?

Many thanks to Kristen Richardson Wilcox of Playtime Poppy Children's Theatre in Cedar Rapids for her thoughts:

I have wonderful memories of doing dishes and cooking with my mother - singing along with Carole King, Jim Croce, James Taylor, The Beach Boys, the Carpenters, and many, many musicals. She is delightfully tone deaf, but sings with heart and all of the lyrics.

Listeners chimed in with their examples as well.

And, a few additions from my personal friends and co-workers:

"Danny's Song" by Loggins & Messina. Micki from our sister station chose this one. It's a song about a loving bond that reminds you that you don't need to have all the material things in life.

Two popular Mother/Son dance songs at weddings, according to local radio personality/wedding DJ Bobby Hansen:

"Wind Beneath My Wings" by Bette Midler

"Because You Loved Me" by Celine Dion"

"Pink Cadillac" by Bruce Springsteen. Abby says it reminds her of driving around with her Mom, smiling and singing along!

Finally, "Up Where We Belong" by Joe Cocker and Jennifer Warnes. My Mother died eight years ago, and this was one of her favorite songs. A tribute to her that I will always remember on Mother's Day.

Share with us your favorite Mother's Day songs, we will post your comments and maybe we can throw them on the air for you as well. Happy Mother's Day!
