So this finally happened.

It's been a busy (and often stressful) couple months at the Townsquare Media Cedar Rapids radio stations, as we have been preparing for some big events and awaiting the results of our ratings period. Friday night offered a wonderful chance to get together with co-workers on-and-off duty, to unwind and let our hair down.

We did just that, by joining the Cedar Rapids Jaycees in hosting another fantastic Uptown Friday Night at the McGrath Amphitheatre. The featured act was "Downward Fall". The music was rockin' and the weather was perfect, with rain holding off until after the event. Great food and cold beverages rounded out a great night of fun and friendship...but for us that was just the beginning.

We all stopped by the Viking Lounge in Cedar Rapids afterwards, where I made my long-awaited karaoke debut! If you remember my blog on this from a while back, I ended up picking two songs that didn't get any votes in the poll, but I am proud to say that according to friends, both old and new who were in attendance, I "nailed" both "Need You Tonight" by INXS and "Private Eyes" by Daryl Hall & John Oates. Yes, that's two performances on my first-ever round of karaoke! I'm no Courtlin, who is a fantastic singer, but I think I held my own!

Now, I'll grant you, it took me until about an hour before the start of everything to decide I was going to go, as my procrastinating and social anxiety almost got the best of me again. But I went out, worked, played and had the time of my life--like I always do when I join the party.

On the way home, another first: my first Uber ride. I was very pleased with their service.

This will all definitely be taking place again. I want to thank the gang for a great time, and in case you need proof that this actually happened, check out the video below!
