Excelsior Middle School Bomb Threat Causes Evacuation

Excelsior Middle School students were evacuated around 12:30 p.m. today (May 23rd) when the District received a telephonic bomb threat. Administrators, with the help of the Marion Police Department, began to assess the credibility of the threat. Marion Police will conduct a thorough search of the building.

Due to the fact that the search will take several hours, students will be dismissed to parents/guardians or placed on their normal bus routes from Lowe Park.

Parents/guardians are able to pick up their students from Lowe Park (4500 N 10th St, Marion) beginning immediately. Buses will run approximately at their normal time.

The District will follow all policies and procedures to ensure faculty and student safety.
