You might have seen a strange status update from one (or more) of your Facebook friends lately, similar to the one below, where they appear to be sharing an intimate detail about their lives.

Don't be alarmed! Your friends aren't really lathering up with butter and sliding around their homes in sleeping bags while pretending to be a slug -- at least we hope not. The admittedly odd revelation is, in fact, part of a campaign to get people talking about Breast Cancer Awareness Month. If you like or comment on one of these statuses, you will probably receive a message urging you to make this your Facebook status as well.

The status updates are causing quite a stir but it's all in good fun and for a good cause! Breast cancer affects about 1 in 8 U.S. women and is the deadliest form of cancer that women in the U.S. are facing today. You can read more facts and statistics about breast cancer here. Join us in participating in Breast Cancer Awareness Month during October by joining in on the conversation and helping us spread the word while we work towards a cure.
