One of the biggest headaches of 2015 had been the Highway 100 construction project and how it has made of mess of traffic on Edgewood Road.  However, it looks like after tonight, that might be changing, at least for the rest of 2015.

Starting at 8:00 PM tonight, the Department of Transportation will begin the installation of the signal truss, that is the final piece of the construction disruption for the year. So that's the good news, that it's almost all over for the year.

The bad news is that from 8:00 PM tonight to approximately 6:00 AM tomorrow, there will be some major detours.  All traffic on the north side of the bridge will be detoured to Blairs Ferry Road, and then to 42nd St. Those on Hwy 100 looking to go north on Edgewood will not be able to, and a detour will be created to re-route traffic to Blairs Ferry.  On the flipside, those on Edgewood south of the bridge looking to get onto Hwy 100, or those on Hwy 100 looking to head south on Edgewood, will not see any traffic impacts, other than confused drivers.  Again, this only impacts the late evening/early morning hours when traffic is much lighter.

If this will be the permanent end of all construction impacting Edgewood, we'd be ready to celebrate.  Time will tell if that is the case though.  We'll see what 2016 brings.  Travel safe tonight!
