A fire at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Park in Cedar Rapids had a portion of First Avenue closed down. Firefighters responded to the blaze at around 8:15 p.m. yesterday. They found smoke and heavy flames coming from a maintenance building. Crews needed to close First Avenue because fire hydrants were located on the opposite side of the road.

Firefighters say the shed was a total loss. No one was injured during the blaze. Initial reports are that a malfunctioning furnace may have started the fire.

First Avenue has reopened to traffic.
