The flu death toll in Iowa has nearly doubled in the last week.

The Iowa Department of Health says 34 deaths from the flu were reported this week alone. That makes it 77 since last October.

Reportedly, and thankfully, no young children have died from the latest flu epidemic, but they, along with older senior citizens are reportedly most susceptible to this latest strain, as well as those with weaker immune systems.

Health experts say it's never too late to get a flu shot, and with the report of the skyrocketing death toll, it might be a very good idea.
