Former Iowa & NFL Great to Join Kinnick’s ANF Wall of Honor

The University of Iowa celebrates the 6th Annual ANF (America Needs Farmers) Game this Saturday and honors a former Hawkeye who went from walk-on to NFL stud.

This Saturday, Iowa will honor former player Dallas Clark, a native of Livermore, Iowa. Clark, now 37 (how is that possible?!), walked on at Iowa as a linebacker but ended up being an All-American tight end who went on to a tremendous career in the National Football League, including a Super Bowl championship with the Indianapolis Colts in 2007.

In a University of Iowa press release, Clark stated "“My dad was a mechanic on a farm and worked on tractors and helped farmers. I was around farming growing up, but was never in a tractor planting, combining with family, or anything like that, but I was around it."

After his 11-year professional career ended, Dallas returned to Iowa and purchased a farm that had been in the Clark family for more than a century. Clark went on to say, “I love the lifestyle. I love working and manual labor. I love being outside and working the ground. Like any farmer, you have to adapt, adjust, and try to make it work. The whole idea of that type of work attracted me.”

Before Saturday's game, fans will be able to sign up to win ANF memorabilia autographed by Coach Kirk Ferentz and get autographs from Dallas Clark along with former Hawkeyes Chuck Long and Pat Angerer.

Also prior to Iowa's 11:01 kickoff (ESPN) Saturday morning at Kinnick, The Big Ten Network's "BTN Tailgate" will broadcast live from the Krause Family Plaza, at the south end of the stadium, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Stop by and enjoy the show, which will also feature the Hawkeye Marching Band, Spirit Squads, and Herky the Hawk. Most importantly, start creating the atmosphere that Kinnick Stadium will have to have Saturday to help Iowa pull an upset over the Wisconsin Badgers in what is, in my mind, THEE BIGGEST game of the year so far.
