Next week is Well Women Week.  In lieu of this, various medical facilities across Cedar Rapids will be offering important services to women in need, free of charge, regardless of insurance. Any woman will tell you that mammograms and pap tests are a necessary thing, and part of an annual visit to the Doctor's office.  Unfortunately for many, that annual trip can not be made.  This could be for numerous reasons.  However it's mostly due to medical costs and lack of insurance that women don't get these check-ups, simply because they can't afford them.

Next week, from Monday to Wednesday, women aged 40-64 with no medical insurance, are welcome to register to have these services done free of charge.  Income guidelines may apply, and appointments are necessary, as the services will be first come, first serve.  However, women in need of these potential life saving services should not let anything deter them from registering.

Services will be conducted in numerous places across the city including:

  • Mercy Women’s Center
  • Radiology Consultants of Iowa (RCI) Imaging Center
  • UnityPoint Health – St. Luke’s Breast and Bone Health
  • UnityPoint Health – St. Luke’s Family Health Center
  • His Hands Free Medical Clinic
  • Eastern Iowa Health Center.
