Get a jump on your holiday shopping--without breaking the bank--and help support programs and services at your local library. The Friends of the Cedar Rapids Public Library's annual Fall book sale is being held this weekend at the Cherry Building, 329 10th Ave SE in Cedar Rapids. Sale hours are Friday, November 4 from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; Saturday, November 5, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday, November 6 from Noon-4 p.m.

The book sale helps support the Cedar Rapids Public Library and is a major fundraiser every year. The items at these sales, which are acquired primarily through donations, are in like-new condition and sold at a fraction of the cost of bookstores.

The public's support may be even more crucial this year, after the library was forced to cut programs, services and operating hours for 2016 when a tax levy to benefit them was voted down.

The downtown library branch, at 450 5th Ave. SE also holds "First Saturday Sales" on November 5 and December 3 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. The Cherry Building is again the location for the "Very Cherry Holiday Sale" December 3.
