Before we left on the road trip, we took the car into the show for some repairs, and to get a general inspection.  That's where we found the A/C was at risk and we wouldn't have time to repair it.  Besides, repairs would be close to $2000. As such, we waited. It was a hot trip down to Texas without the A/C, as we weren't going to take chances. We immediately got the A/C fixed, which they diagnosed as a problem with the tension pulley. This was going to be a repair cheaper than we previously had diagnosed, and was a same day repair. From that point on, it was clear sailing, or so we thought.

Luck was definitely smiling on us, as we made it from Houston to San Antonio, then back home again.  The next morning after arriving home, we had to run some errands. As we pulled into a parking lot, the power steering locked up, and the A/C stopped, and I had a good feeling what it was.

We were told the problems the car was having in relation to the A/C, was that the main belt in the car wasn't turning properly, and could possibly snap. If that went, the car would no longer recharge, self-cool, have power steering, and would lose the A/C, as that belt keeps all those systems turning.  I knew that had to be it, and it was. Apparently, the pulley installed was faulty, and a piece of it broke off, losing the tension and the belt. The warranty covered the repair, and we were good to go with another quick same day repair.

It retrospect however, how lucky were we? Can you imagine if this happened in the middle of nowhere in Kansas?  We are so very blessed!
