Iowa lawmakers have introduced legislation that would make Central Standard Time as Iowa's official time measurement throughout the year, ending Daylight Saving Time. Governor Terry Branstad says, not so fast.

Branstad now is not the time to make the change. He fears it would put Iowa out of sync with the rest of the country leading to confusion and other problems. The governor suggested the topic be addressed at a national level instead. While the bill has only a small chance of making it to the governor's desk, Branstad says that it would not get a favorable reception if it got there.

Iowans are scheduled to 'spring forward' one hour on March 12th, and 'fall back' one hour on November 5th. If a bill DID pass eliminating Daylight Savings Time, Iowa would join Arizona and Hawaii as the only states who don't use it.
