Gwen Stefani's very first appearance on The Howard Stern Show yesterday (July 21) was a memorable one — tearful recounting of her failed marriage to Gavin Rossdale included.

Stefani, who filed for divorce from Rossdale in August 2015 after learning that he'd carried on an affair with the couple's nanny, reminisced to Stern about the early stages of the couple's relationship. She'd just broken up with her first real boyfriend — No Doubt band mate Tony Kanal — and said Rossdale offered something different.

"I was in quite a rebellious place because I was feeling really rejected," she said. "Somehow [Rossdale] got my phone number, and that was that. He stalked me, I think. I was only 26, and I only had the one relationship. I still lived at home when I met Gavin."

Of course, things fell apart — very publicly — after 14 years of marriage, and Gwen credits her family and God with seeing her through.

Still, she struggles to make sense of it all.

"It’s been an unbelievable journey. You can’t even imagine," she said. "My parents were totally helping me through the whole thing...I was in a panic. I was in hell.”

"I think, for me, I feel like I always wondered: Why did I get so unlucky in love?" she added as tears collected. "I have so much love in me. You are making me cry."
