This is Eric Stone from 104-5 KDAT and on behalf of everyone here, we'd like to wish you all a safe and Happy New Year and all the best in 2017.

Looking back on 'the year that was', I went to my 20-year high school reunion in July and attended a dream concert in September at the U.S. Cellular Center.

Almost exactly one week later, the city was on alert, as our community quickly began to band together, to save Cedar Rapids from another potentially devastating flood, just eight years after the last one.

We lost a staggering number of famous figures and cultural icons this past year.

Certainly, 2016 was a year of many ups and downs. But it's time to turn the calendar to a new year and make it the best one ever.

Thank you for being our loyal listeners throughout the year. What were some of your highlights/lowlights from the past year? What do you hope for in 2017? Share them with us in the comments.
