Amani Hooker, the Big 10 Defensive Back of the year has announced he is leaving school and entering the upcoming NFL Draft. Hooker made the announcement over the weekend on social media.

The junior started the first four games of the year at strong safety. But Iowa defensive coordinator Phil Parker moved him to a new hybrid role for the final nine games. Hooker excelled at the linebacker/cornerback role helping solidify Iowa's defense down the stretch. Iowa led the conference in scoring defense at just over 17 points per game.

NFL scouts took notice of Hooker's play too. His size, 6 feet, and 210 pounds will allow him to play multiple positions at the next level too. He could line up at safety, linebacker, or corner. His ability to cover slot receivers makes him very valuable too. Just ask Chargers corner, Desmond King, The former Hawkeye is having a standout season as Los Angeles continues in the playoffs.
