The Iowa Hawkeyes have entered the rankings for the first time this season. This comes after their victory on Saturday over Indiana 42-16.

The Hawks beat up the Hoosiers improving their overall record to 5-1. Nate Stanley had a career-high six touchdowns and T.J. Hockenson and Noah Fant had over 100 yards receiving.

On the strength of the victory, Iowa shot into the national rankings.  Iowa ranked 19th in the new AP poll and 22nd in the Coaches poll.

Up next for Iowa is this Saturday's homecoming game against Maryland Saturday, October 20th. The early line on the game has Iowa favored by 13 points. You can watch all of the action on ESPN 2, starting at 11 a.m.

This Iowa team is playing well and I don't see that changing anytime soon. I would give up the 13 points and take the Hawks this weekend. I expect the defense to shut down Maryland and Iowa wins this one easily.

Final score prediction: Iowa 27, Maryland 10.
