Help Raise Funds and Awareness For Breast Cancer This Weekend

Looking for something to do that will actually make a difference this weekend? Take a walk!

The Especially For You Race Against Breast Cancer is scheduled for Sunday, to coincide with Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. It includes a 5k run, 5k walk and 1-mile "family fun run/walk". Walkers and runners will meet up at Hall-Perrine Cancer Center and the race will conclude in NewBo.

You can still sign up to participate Sunday morning. Registration is $35 for adults, $20 for youth, but team registration is closed. Downtown parking will be available to the public with shuttle buses available to transport you to the starting line.

• 7:45 a.m. Opening ceremony
• 8 a.m. 5k run, immediately followed by the 5k walk and family fun run
• Cancer survivors line up for a special photo starting at 7:15 at Hall-Perrine Cancer Center, 701 10th St. SE.

Whether you participate in the race or not, we invite you to 319 Motors, 2702 6th St. SW in Cedar Rapids immediately following the event. It's our 2nd annual "Pink Power Party" from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.  to raise funds that will go towards Especially For You.

Our friends from Mellow Mushroom, Los Compadres and Chrome Horse will be providing food and beverages, with live music from Boot Jack Duo and Toxic Blonde. A silent auction will take place with great prizes.
