Older pets can sometimes be more difficult to get adopted from area shelters, including the Cedar Valley Humane Society. This holiday season, I'm making it my goal to get all of the "senior" pets from CVHS adopted into permanent homes for the start of 2016.

Let's start with Katie, a 10-year old Domestic Shorthair/Bengal that had a rough time in her former home. Another cat bullied her, so it's recommended she be your only pet. Katie's also scared of loud noises and some men... she's adoptable for just $45.

Pooh is a 15-year old Domestic Medium Hair/Mix. He gets along great with other cats and loves affection. You could call him an instant purrer. He's also available for $45.

There are two other senior cats available for adoption now. Both Betty and Patty arrived this week. Betty is a 10-year old Domestic Longhair/Mix that's grey and white. Patty is a 15-year old Domestic Shorthair/Mix that's grey and brown.

America melts my heart. She's a 10-year old Catahoula Leopard dog/Mix that came to the Humane Society when her owner had to move and was unable to take her along. She's a lover and is great with kids but doesn't like to share the spotlight, so she should be the only pet in your home. A fenced in yard, playing fetch, and long walks are among her favorites. America's adoption fee is $75.

Are you looking for a pet? If not, maybe you know the perfect someone for one of the dogs or cats above. Please share this with them and let's get 'em all adopted before we ring in 2016.

Please note that any of the above pets could be adopted at any time, so don't delay if you're interested!
