When Bon Jovi started their current "This House is Not for Sale" tour, the group, along with Live Nation Entertainment, also launched a social media contest. It was a chance for local and regional bands from around the U.S., to compete for a warm-up slot at their nearest venue on the tour.

Live Nation narrowed the vast number of entries they received down to 10 per venue, and Bon Jovi then chose from those finalists. It turns out, a group out of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa (my father's hometown, just outside of Sioux City) made the cut and will open the show in Chicago next Sunday, March 26 at the United Center.

Equally impressive is that 35th and Taylor consists of musicians no older than 20. Their website says that lead singer Anna Taylor was a contestant on "The Voice".

Tickets for the Chicago show are available now at Bon Jovi's website.

Good luck to 35th and Taylor next weekend.  What a great opportunity for a homegrown Iowa band who are now on the fast track to an amazing future! We know they'll make Iowa proud!
