Iowa has long been proud of its education system and for good reason. Now, students in the Hawkeye state are drawing comparisons to one of the smartest countries in the world.

Homesnacks studied the U.S. Census to pull numbers on each state's high school graduation rate and then stacked them up to the education index for countries all over the world, via the United Nations Development Program. Each state then draws a comparison to their foreign country equivalent. In the case of Iowa, our companion country (education-wise) is China. According to

According to Insider Monkey, people in China have an average IQ of 100, good for 15th highest in the world. I'd say that's a pretty favorable comparison for Iowa.

Where does Iowa's education system land in the 50 states and District of Columbia? Near the top 10. According to Wallethub, Iowa's "School System Quality Rank" is good for number 12 in the United States.

Iowa schools being compared to those in China certainly isn't a bad thing. However, being outside the top 10 in our own country means we still have work to do.
