Iowa Football Lands Prized Recruit

After a bunch of speculation, it's now official. Iowa has landed one of the most sought-after football recruits in the country.

Four-star cornerback Chevin Calloway, a 5-foot-10, 180-pounder from Bishop Dunne High School in Dallas is the fifth Texas high school player to commit to Iowa's 2017 recruiting class.

Some of the most successful schools in the country wanted Calloway to join their program. The Gazette says he had offers from home state schools Texas and Texas A&M, along with Ohio State, Michigan, Alabama, LSU, and Notre Dame.

According to the Quad City Times, Calloway stated during his announcement on Periscope, "I was blessed to be recruited by a number of quality football coaches and quality programs, but my comfort level with Iowa was there right from the start. It was just a feeling and the more I researched everything and the more I got to know the coaches there, the more comfortable I got."

College football site Rivals.com ranks him as the 82nd-best senior in the nation. Calloway is one of three Iowa recruits currently rated in the top 103 nationally. The others are defensive end A.J. Epenesa of Edwardsville, Illinois (with) and running back Eno Benjamin of Wylie, Texas (103rd).
