Iowa was hungry for a road win. The Hawkeyes had trailed by at least 17 points in their last 11 straight road games. They'd won only one of those contests. Wednesday night presented another challenge as they had to face Northwestern without their leading scorer and rebounder.

Tyler Cook sat out the game with a sore knee. Without his nearly 18 points and 9 rebounds, the other Hawkeyes came together and fought out a 73-63 win against the Wildcats. Freshman Joe Weiskamp had a game-high 19 for Iowa who trailed by seven at one point in the second half. Luka Garza, still making his way back into shape after an ankle injury, chipped in 16 points and made 10 of 11 free throws.

It was a team effort for Iowa who improves to 2-3 in the Big Ten and 13-3 overall. The Hawkeyes return home to Carver-Hawkeye Arena this weekend for a game against 17th ranked Ohio State. Tip-off is 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
