Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds and her families trip to Iowa State's bowl game last year is under scrutiny after it was discovered the plane belonged to a campaign sponsor. The Associated Press reports that Reynolds and her family flew to watch the Cyclones play in The Liberty Bowl in Memphis on a plane owned by Sedgwick, a Memphis owned company that handles worker compensation claims filed by injured state employees.

Governor Reynolds got approval for the flight from the state board of ethics director, saying it was a campaign donation from the CEO of Sedgwick. He says that he reimbursed the company for the use of the plane. The governor's office said that campaign events would take place during the day of the trip. It is unclear what, if any, campaigning took place on the brief trip. Ethics board members were also unaware the plane was owned by Sedgwick.

Sedgwick CEO Dave North is one of the governor's largest campaign donors having given her campaign $110,000 since December of 2016. The investigation into the trip comes as Reynolds prepares for the November 6th election day battle against Democrat Fred Hubbell.
