If you're getting ready to retire in Iowa, you're in a great place! According to a new study from WalletHub, Iowa made the list of the top 10 BEST states to retire!

WalletHub looked at many different factors to determine their list. The article states:

"WalletHub compared the 50 states across 46 key indicators of retirement-friendliness. Our analysis examines affordability, health-related factors and overall quality of life."

Iowa came in at number 7 on the overall list, ranking 27th in affordability, 8th in quality of life, and 10th in health care. Surprisingly, Iowa was only one of three Midwest states to break the top 10, with South Dakota coming in 2nd and Minnesota coming in 10th. Here are the top 5 states to retire:

  1. Florida (shocking...)
  2. South Dakota
  3. Colorado
  4. New Hampshire
  5. Virginia

On the other side of things, here are the absolute WORST states to retire in 2019:

  1. Kentucky
  2. Rhode Island
  3. West Virginia
  4. Vermont
  5. New Jersey

If you know anyone in those states who are reaching retirement age, you may want to suggest a change of scenery. Team Iowa!
