Iowa Man Accomplishes A Challenge That Is Borderline Impossible

When I say this man from Iowa completed a challenge that was nearly impossible, I mean the odds of him making this list were .001%. I've actually talked about this guy before with you. He makes millions of dollars sitting on his butt. Even if you aren't the biggest fan of video games, this accomplishment is nothing short of astonishing.

This past June, a video game called Diablo 4 was released by Activision Blizzard Entertainment. Gamers simply refer to this company as Blizzard and this company develops and publishes video games. Blizzard happens to be the 5 largest video game company in the world, according to All Top Everything.

The Diablo 4 game they released in June made over $666 million in its first 5 days, according to PC GamesN. I think it'd be fair to say millions of gamers were playing this game, after its initial release, at any given moment.

If you're unfamiliar with the game, the most basic way to break it down is you create a character that you try to strengthen by completing tasks put in place on the game. You begin with your character at level 1 and then level them up as high as you can, with the max level being 100.

Other than defeating Lilith, who's the lady with the horns on her head in the video above, your main goal is to level your character as high as you possibly can. Once you hit 100, you can complete other parts of the game with that character, or choose a new character to build.

I'm not a hardcore gamer by any stretch of the imagination but I do play a select few video games as mostly a way to keep in touch with some friends I grew up with in Minnesota.

The Iowa gentleman who accomplished this "race" is what someone might call a hardcore gamer. When you make millions of dollars doing it...you're probably going to be pretty good at video games.

Nick was born around the Des Moines area and is one of the most popular professional video game players in the world. By professional, I mean he gets paid to play video games, and by gets paid, I mean he's made millions of dollars.

When Diablo 4 was released, there was a challenge sent out by the Diablo 4 creators that only 1,000 gamers would be able to say they'd completed, and Nick was one of them. 

If you're just casually playing Diablo 4, your character might run out of health and die. This isn't a big deal, you can just revive at your last checkpoint and try again. You have an unlimited amount of tries to beat certain parts of the game that you might be struggling to get past. Unless...

You're playing in "hardcore mode." Hardcore mode means that if your character dies at any point, it's over. You will have to completely restart and go back to level 1.

The challenge sent out by the Diablo 4 creators was the first 1,000 players to reach level 100, in hardcore mode, will have their name carved into a life-size Diablo 4 statue. Nick was able to make the list out of the millions of people who attempted to do this.

Nick put together a video on his YouTube channel showing all of the efforts that went into trying to be one of the first 1,000 people to accomplish this challenge. He even has a character that dies at one point, forcing him to start over again. You can see the video on his ImMarksman page.

The fact that this video gamer from Iowa is now enshrined forever in this Diablo 4 game is pretty awesome. Millions of people play this game on a regular basis and he can officially say he was one of the first players to reach level 100 in hardcore mode. Whether you like video games or not, anytime someone is in the top 1,000 out of millions, that's pretty special.
