A group of everyday, normal people helped save the life of a young deer in Waterloo. At around 7 p.m. Saturday night, onlookers discovered a deer trapped in the rising waters of the Cedar River. The high waters had swept it away from shore before it made it's way towards a structure near the 4th street bridge in Waterloo.

An unidentified man wearing a life jacket and a rope, lowered himself down into the river to help bring the deer to safety. Calls were made to the DNR, but they were unable to provide assistance. It turns out, the citizens on hand had it under control.

After some adjustments were made, the young deer was raised to the safety of dry land. So was his rescuer, who did not wish to be identified. The deer was eventually returned to it's natural habitat.
